Wall St opens lower as AI worries spook investors; Nasdaq eyes monthly drop

Feb 27 (Reuters) – Wall Street’s main indexes opened lower ​on Friday ‌as AI anxiety dragged on tech stocks, with the ‌Nasdaq ​bracing for ⁠its steepest ⁠monthly drop since March 2025, while hotter-than-expected inflation data ​also dampened sentiment.

The Dow Jones ⁠Industrial ⁠Average fell 245.6 ​points, or 0.50%, ​at the open to ‌49253.57. The S&P 500 fell 52.3 points, ⁠or 0.76%, at the open to 6856.54, while ⁠the ‌Nasdaq Composite ⁠dropped 263.0 ​points, ‌or 1.15%, to ​22615.429 at ⁠the opening bell.
