Feb 12 (Reuters) – JPMorgan Chase’s commercial and investment bank has appointed insider Guy Halamish as chief operating officer to oversee ‌data and AI strategy across the division, according to an internal memo seen by Reuters.

Banks and companies across Wall ‌Street are rushing to deploy AI to improve efficiency, with significant investment heightening pressure on firms to modernize quickly and deliver tangible results from the technology.

Under the new structure, chief data and analytics officers for payments, global banking, securities services and markets will report jointly to Halamish and the respective business heads.

The memo ‌said the revamped team will focus on improving data quality, strengthening governance, preparing infrastructure for AI agents and driving end-to-end transformation in areas like credit and client onboarding.

JPMorgan, the biggest ‌U.S. bank, has been building out its data organization under ‌Teresa Heitsenrether since 2023, as part of a broader push to modernize technology and maintain an edge over Wall Street rivals.
