After leaving for stints in Arizona and Seattle, third baseman Eugenio Suarez is returning to the Cincinnati Reds on ‍a one-year deal, according to multiple media reports.

Suarez, 34, will earn $15 million for the upcoming season, and the contract reportedly includes a mutual option for the 2027 season.

He’s coming off a season ‌in which he was dealt ‌from the Diamondbacks to the Mariners at the trade deadline before helping lead Seattle to its fourth American League Championship Series appearance in franchise history.

However, the majority of his major league career (seven of 12 seasons) has been spent with ‍Cincinnati. Of his 325 career home runs, 189 were hit with the Reds, including three of his six ‍30-homer seasons.

Suarez hit .228 in 159 games last season. He had a career-high 118 RBIs and tied his career high with 49 home runs – fifth most in the majors.

After hitting .248 ‍with Arizona before the trade, he hit .189 with 13 homers in 53 regular-season games in Seattle. He ‍then hit .213 ‍with three homers and eight RBIs in 12 postseason games.

Suarez is a .246 hitter over 1,630 regular-season games ‌with 949 RBIs, a .328 on-base percentage, a .464 slugging percentage and 1,814 strikeouts against 632 walks.

He played shortstop early in his career, but has played third base almost exclusively for the past 10 seasons.
