The New England Patriots’ initial injury report leading up to the Super Bowl included a surprise entry: quarterback Drake Maye.

The team didn’t ‍practice on Wednesday, but per NFL rules, a projected injury report was required to be released. Maye was estimated to have been a limited practice participant due to a sore right shoulder.

On Tuesday, New England coach Mike ‌Vrabel said, “I think that everybody, including ‌Drake, is not 100% at this part of the year. We’ll do everything that we can to help our players be prepared and get ready for this game.”

Three New England players were estimated to have missed the entire session had the team practiced on ‍Wednesday: linebackers Harold Landry III (knee) and Robert Spillane (ankle) and tackle Thayer Munford Jr. (knee/illness).

Spillane got hurt during the Patriots’ 10-7 win over ‍the Denver Broncos on Sunday in the AFC Championship Game, a contest that Landry missed.

Wide receiver Mack Hollins (abdomen) joined Maye in receiving a “limited” designation.

Maye, 23, has started every game this season, steering New ‍England to a 17-3 record, including playoff victories over the Los Angeles Chargers, Houston Texans and Denver.

He led the NFL ‍with a ‍72.0% completion rate, a 113.5 passer rating and a 77.1 QBR while throwing for 4,394 yards with 31 touchdown passes ‌and eight interceptions. Maye has four TD passes and two interceptions in the postseason.

With a victory over the Seattle Seahawks in Santa Clara, Calif., on Feb. 8, Maye would be the youngest quarterback to win a Super Bowl.
