Oklahoma vaults into top 10 as SEC sets Top 25 record

Oklahoma jumped six spots to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 women’s basketball poll Monday ‍following last week’s upset of South Carolina.

Fellow Southeastern Conference member Georgia (18-3) joined those two in the rankings this week at No. 23 to give the SEC a record 10 ‌teams in the Top 25.

Defending ‌national champ UConn (21-0) remains the consensus No. 1 team in the nation, receiving all 31 first-place votes. No. 2 UCLA (19-1) switched places with ​the No. 3 Gamecocks (20-2), while Texas (19-2) and Vanderbilt (20-1) held steady to round ‍out the top five.

Oklahoma ​followed up its 94-82 overtime ​win on Thursday against South Carolina with ‍a 72-65 victory at Auburn on Sunday. Aaliyah Chavez led the Sooners in scoring in both games, dropping 26 on the Gamecocks and 18 on the ‍Tigers.

South Carolina bounced back with a 103-74 rout of previously unbeaten Vanderbilt on Sunday.

No. 6 LSU (18-2) ‍maintained ‍its spot, while No. 7 ​Louisville (19-3) moved up one, No. 8 ​Iowa (18-2) ⁠climbed two and No. 9 ‌Michigan (17-3) fell two places.
