LIV Golf’s South African team announced a rebrand from Stingers Golf Club to Southern Guards Golf Club.

The new logo unveiled ‍on Tuesday features a rhino, a “powerful symbol deeply rooted in South African culture,” the league said in a statement. The green design is also shaped by South African textures and patterns.

The all-South African Stinger GC ‌roster remains intact for 2026 with ‌Louis Oosthuizen, Branden Grace, Dean Burmester and Charl Schwartzel. The 2026 LIV Golf season begins with an event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Feb. 4-7, and the league will visit South Africa for the first time with the March 19-22 event at ‍The Club at Steyn City in Johannesburg.

“This has been an emotional and considered decision, but we felt the time ‍was right to embrace a name and visual identity that more authentically reflects who we are and where we come from,” Southern Guards GC general manager Richard Glover said. “Southern Guards GC reflects ‍the responsibility we carry in representing South Africa on a global stage. With LIV Golf coming to the ‍country for ‍the first time, the timing couldn’t be more fitting for us to represent our heritage with pride.”

Stingers GC finished ‌third in the 2025 standings behind Legion XIII and Crushers GC. Burmester was the team’s top performer, finishing fifth in the individual standings. Schwartzel finished 23rd while Grace and Oosthuizen finished 29th and 30th, respectively.
