Rangers G Igor Shesterkin exits vs. Mammoth after collision

New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin exited Monday’s game against the ‍visiting Utah Mammoth after a collision in the crease with seven minutes remaining in the first period.

Shesterkin made ‌a pad save on ‌Utah’s Dylan Guenther with 7:05 remaining but couldn’t control the rebound. JJ Peterka beat New York ​defenseman Braden Schneider to the loose puck ‍and his skate ​blade appeared to ​collide with Shesterkin’s glove.

Shesterkin immediately ‍fell backwards into the crease and was down for a few minutes before being helped off the ‍ice by a teammate and a trainer. Jonathan Quick entered the ‍game ‍as Shesterkin went ​to the locker room.

Shesterkin ​made ⁠nine saves before ‌the collision. He is 17-12-4 with a 2.47 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in 33 games entering Monday.
