Wall St opens flat ahead of Christmas break

Dec 24 (Reuters) – Wall Street indexes opened nearly ‍flat in shortened Christmas Eve trading on Wednesday, as traders ‌wait to ‌see whether stocks can extend record gains in a seasonally strong ​stretch for markets.

At 09:30 ‍a.m. ​ET, the Dow ​Jones Industrial Average ‍fell 42.67 points, or 0.09%, to 48,399.74. The S&P 500 ‍lost 0.70 points, or 0.01%, to 6,909.09, ‍and ‍the Nasdaq ​Composite dipped ​25.58 ⁠points, or ‌0.06%, to 23,542.31 points.
