Spot silver extends rally to hit $70 per ounce for first time

Dec 23 (Reuters) – Spot silver ‍scaled $70 an ounce on Tuesday, driven ‌by strong ‌industrial and investment demand, tightening inventories, geopolitical ​tensions, and ‍expectations ​of further ​U.S. rate ‍cuts.

Silver prices were up 1.5% at $70.06 ‍an ounce by 1314 ‍GMT, after ‍hitting ​an ​all-time ⁠high of $70.18/oz.
