Dec 17 (Reuters) – Oil and gas major BP on Wednesday appointed Meg O’Neill as its chief executive officer, effective April 1, 2026, as Murray Auchincloss stepped down from the role.
BP’s executive vice president, Carol Howle, will serve as interim CEO until O’Neill assumes the position. O’Neill currently serves as chief executive of Woodside Energy.
“With an extraordinary portfolio of assets, BP has significant potential to reestablish market leadership and grow shareholder value,” Meg O’Neill said, who spent 23 years at ExxonMobil before joining Woodside.
“Progress has been made in recent years, but increased rigor and diligence are required to make the necessary transformative changes to maximise value for our shareholders,” BP Chair Albert Manifold said.
