The New England Revolution acquired forward Leonardo Campana from Inter Miami CF on Thursday in exchange for an MLS-trade record fee of $2.5 million in guaranteed general allocation money.

The GAM could increase to $3.25 million if certain performance-based incentives are reached.

Inter Miami also received one international roster slot from New England in both the 2025 and 2026 seasons, and will receive an undisclosed percentage on any financial returns from a potential future transfer.

Thursday’s deal eclipses the previous MLS record, set in January 2022 after FC Dallas acquired Paul Arriola from D.C. United for $2 million in guaranteed GAM plus $300,000 in conditional GAM.

“Leo Campana is a proven goal scorer whose arrival strengthens a crucial position of need for our team as we work to improve our offensive production this season,” Revolution sporting director Curt Onalfo said. “Leo is a forward we have had our eyes on for quite some time, so we are thrilled to have him in our club. We are pleased to have another important piece of the puzzle in place before preseason begins.”

Campana, 24, collected eight goals and three assists in 28 regular-season matches (14 starts) this past season. The native of Ecuador has totaled 28 goals and eight assists in 80 career regular-season matches (52 starts) with Inter Miami.

“I am thrilled to join the New England Revolution and can’t wait to give my all for this incredible club,” Campana said. “I’m looking forward to connecting with the fans and chasing success together.”
