WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Democrat Kamala Harris’ election campaign on Thursday rejected claims by Republican Donald Trump of widespread election fraud in Pennsylvania and said the system was working as it should to identify the small number of issues arising.

A senior campaign official said the campaign is monitoring voting around the country and working with state attorneys general to address misinformation on the election and take down problems where possible.

“All of this is cheating only in the mind of someone who wants to claim he was cheated, and it’s yet another example of how Donald Trump tries to sow doubt in our elections and institutions when he’s afraid he can’t win,” the official told reporters on a conference call. “He wants to lay the groundwork now to claim the election was stolen.”

The person was not authorized to speak publicly.
