Oct 29 (Field Level Media) – Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin will not play in Thursday’s game against the ‌visiting Chicago Blackhawks.

Red Wings head coach Todd McLellan did not disclose the reason surrounding Larkin’s absence. Instead, McLellan said interim general ‌manager Shawn Horcoff will address the situation at a later time.

“Dylan’s had enough of the situation,” Larkin’s agent, Pat Brisson of CAA, told TSN in a statement. “We believe he’s been very professional and cooperative through this process.”

Sportsnet reported the plan is for Larkin not to play until a trade is completed.

Larkin, 30, requested a trade from the team ‌over the summer. The Michigan native was stripped of his captaincy on Sept. 11.

Larkin missed practice on Wednesday for what was referenced as a maintenance day.

The two-way center has six points (two goals, four ‌assists) in 10 games while playing in the fourth season of ‌an eight-year, $69.6-million contract.

Larkin has totaled 649 points (278 goals, 371 assists) in 818 career games since being selected with the 15th overall pick by the Red Wings in the 2014 NHL Draft.
