Oct 28 (Reuters) – Serve Robotics on Wednesday said it is rolling out its sidewalk robot delivery service in Australia, the company’s first international market, adding ‌it would also invest about $500,000 in the region over the next year.

The rollout is in partnership with food delivery platform DoorDash, and will initially kick ‌off in a Gold Coast neighborhood. The company said it would add more local restaurants to its service in the coming weeks.

Here are more details:

• DoorDash customers located in the Gold Coast will now be able to opt in for robot delivery from participating restaurants in the app

• Serve has set up an operations depot at Griffith University that will serve as a facility for robot stationing, ‌charging, dispatch, and maintenance

• “This is the first time we’ve taken Serve beyond the US, and the Gold Coast is the right place to start. It has the walkable neighbourhoods this technology is built for,” Serve CEO Ali Kashani said

• Serve ‌has been in partnership with DoorDash in the US since 2025. Earlier ‌this year, Serve also tapped Grubhub, after its years-long tie-up with Uber Eats fell through

• Serve has a fleet of over 2,000 delivery robots serving over 40 cities across the US
