Oct 25 (Field Level Media) – Top seed and defending champion Daniil Medvedev of Russia rallied past Georgian Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-7 (6), 6-1, 6-3 to claim the title at the Almaty Open on Sunday in Kazakhstan.

Medvedev, the World No. 5, picked up ‌his fourth tour-level title of 2026 and the 25th of his career. He smashed 22 aces to Basilashvili’s three and had to gut out a three-setter after failing to polish off a set-point opportunity in the first-set tiebreaker.

Basilashvili, who was seeking his sixth title ‌and first since May 2021, saved 6 of 10 break points he faced but was unable to break Medvedev’s serve on two tries. He committed twice as many unforced errors — 40 to Medvedev’s 20.

Grand Prix Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes

No. 6 seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy took down No. 2 seed Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-4 in the final in Lyon, France.

Musetti captured his first ATP title in four years and his third overall. He played a far cleaner match than his counterpart, never facing break point and finishing with 11 unforced errors to Fritz’s 28. Fritz was aiming for his 12th career ATP crown.

It was a long-awaited breakthrough for Musetti, who enjoyed a run to the quarterfinals at the ‌most recent Australian Open and lost the final of the 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters, an ATP 1000 event. Musetti had to save four match points against countryman and No. 1 seed Flavio Cobolli in the semifinals Saturday.

BNP Paribas Fortis European Open

Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor rallied from a dropped first set to defeat German Jan-Lennard Struff 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and win the title in Brussels, Belgium.

After going down a break in ‌the first set and failing to catch up, Griekspoor broke Struff’s serve in the eighth game of the second set ‌and served out for the set. In similar fashion, the foes held serve through the first eight games of the final set until Struff went down 0-40 in the ninth game and could not recover. Griekspoor then served out for the championship.

For the unseeded Griekspoor, it was his fourth career title and first of the season. Struff recorded more winners (39-37) but also more unforced errors (31-25).
