Oct 14 (Field Level Media) – The NWSL and the USL Super League will compete in a new women’s cup competition, U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday.
The Arthur M. Blank Crest Cup will feature a $1.7 million prize pool, with the winner earning a berth to the Concacaf W Champions Cup.
“Women’s soccer continues to be one of the most dynamic and inspiring forces in sport,” U.S. Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone said in a statement. “The Crest Cup will create meaningful impact by bringing people together, attracting investment in the future of the game, and ensuring that excellence, inclusivity, and opportunity remain at the heart of women’s soccer in the United States.”
U.S. Soccer did not confirm a start date for the tournament. ESPN previously reported that it is expected to launch in 2028.
The single-elimination tournament will feature every team from NWSL (18 teams in 2028) and the USL Super League, which launched in 2024-25 and currently fields eight teams.
Blank, who contributed $50 million to build the new U.S. Soccer National Training Center near Atlanta, is the owner of the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United FC of MLS, Atlanta City FC of NWSL and the TGL squad Atlanta Drive GC.
