Oct 08 (Field Level Media) – Esteban Ocon said he is not interested in moving to another series if he is unable to secure a ‌Formula 1 seat for 2027.

Haas confirmed last month that it will be parting ways with the 30-year-old Frenchman at the end of the 2026 season.

In an interview ‌published Thursday by RacingNews365, Ocon said he would rather be a third driver if it means staying in F1.

“That’s where I deserve to be, if I look at the results and what I’ve shown in F1. I deserve to be in F1,” he said. “Of course, there are other categories which are fantastic as well. But I want to be racing in F1 for the next five to seven years.

“That’s where I want ‌to be, so I will keep pushing to be in that position. In the near future, that’s the only thing I’m looking at so far.”

Ocon has been a reserve/third driver in the past, performing those duties at Mercedes in 2019 before joining Renault ‌in 2020.

“If there are no possibilities to race next year, that’s what ‌I will do,” he said.

Ocon joined Haas in 2025. He currently ranks 16th in the 2026 F1 drivers’ standings, three spots below teammate Oliver Bearman. Ocon’s best finish this season was eighth at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sept. 26.
