Islanders D Alexander Romanov (ACL) out 6-8 months

Oct 07 (Field Level Media) – New York Islanders defenseman Alexander ​Romanov will be ‌sidelined six to eight months after sustaining a torn ACL in his right knee, the ‌team ​announced Wednesday.

Romanov sustained ⁠the injury during ⁠a collision with Mika Zibanejad in the third period of the Islanders’ 5-2 ​setback to the New York Rangers on Tuesday.

He ⁠owns a ⁠plus-2 rating without a ​point in three games this ​season.

Romanov, 26, sat out the ‌bulk of last season after undergoing surgery on his shoulder following an ⁠injury in a game against the Dallas Stars on Nov. 18.

He ⁠has ‌totaled 84 points (17 goals, ⁠67 assists) in ​372 ‌career games with the ​Montreal Canadiens (2020-22) ⁠and Islanders. He was selected by the Canadiens in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft.
