Oct 01 (Field Level Media) – Buffalo Sabres defenseman Louis Crevier signed a four-year, $16 million contract extension on Thursday, hours before the season opener against the host Columbus Blue Jackets.
Crevier, 25, will remain with the Sabres through the 2030-31 season. The 6-foot-8, 236-pound Crevier was scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of this season.
Crevier was acquired by Buffalo in June in a trade that sent defenseman Bowen Byram and forward Jordan Greenway to the Chicago Blackhawks.
“My first impression was his puck movement was good,” Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. “He’s defended well.”
Crevier had 25 points (seven goals, 18 assists), 124 hits and 95 blocked shots in 78 games last season with the Blackhawks.
He totaled 32 points (10 goals, 22 assists), 224 hits and 194 blocked shots in 134 career games since being selected by Chicago in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Draft.
