Sep 28 (Field Level Media) – Major League Baseball set the umpiring crews for its 2026 wild-card series Monday. Four crews of six were assigned for the best-of-three sets that begin Tuesday.
The group is a mix of young and old, with Bill Miller the most decorated as he receives his seventh wild-card assignment. He will serve as one of the four crew chiefs, along with Alan Porter, Mark Wegner and Jordan Baker.
Five umpires are making their postseason debuts, and another four are in either their second or third playoff series.
The full list, by crew, listed in order from home plate to right field for Game 1:
AMERICAN LEAGUE
Chicago White Sox at Houston Astros: Alex MacKay, Alex Tosi, Ryan Additon, Alan Porter (CC), Edwin Moscoso, Paul Clemons Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees: Nate Tomlinson, Scott Barry, John Libka, Mark Wegner (CC), John Tumpane, Emil Jimenez
NATIONAL LEAGUE
Philadelphia Phillies at Atlanta Braves: Dan Merzel, Adam Beck, Mark Ripperger, Jordan Baker (CC), Nestor Ceja, Charlie Ramos Chicago Cubs at San Diego Padres: Ramon De Jesus, Erich Bacchus, Chad Fairchild, Bill Miller (CC), Rob Drake, Clint Vondrak
MacKay, Clemons, Jimenez, Ramos and Vondrak are assigned to the postseason for the first time. All but MacKay, who has the plate for White Sox-Astros, will be in right field for their respective Game 1s.
