Sep 25 (Field Level Media) – The Carolina Hurricanes announced a two-year contract extension with goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov on Friday.
The deal will pay Kochetkov $2.4 million with a $1.5 million signing bonus in 2027-28 and $3 million with a $1 million signing bonus in 2028-29.
“Pyotr is an incredibly talented goalie whose aggressive style fits our team very well,” general manager Eric Tulsky said. “We believe in his ability to win games for this organization and are thrilled he wants to continue helping us pursue championships in Carolina.”
Kochetkov, 27, missed most of the 2025-26 campaign with a lower-body injury and finished 6-2-0 with one shutout, a 2.33 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage in nine games.
Drafted in the second round in 2019, the Russian netminder is 71-38-12 with 11 shutouts, a 2.46 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 125 games (120 starts) over parts of five seasons with Carolina.
The defending Stanley Cup champion Hurricanes will open the 2026-27 regular season on Tuesday night against the Florida Panthers in Raleigh, N.C.
