Sept 24 (Reuters) – Bank of America said on Thursday it plans to hire 1,000 additional apprentices over the next two years, expanding its skills-based hiring in local communities.
• The commitment is on top of the more than 800 apprentices the company already hires each year through programs across its consumer banking, technology and other business areas.
• The additional hires will target workers without a four-year college degree.
• As part of the initiative, Bank of America will invest $150 million over five years in workforce development organizations that help individuals gain job-ready skills and connect with employment opportunities, the company said.
• The bank also said the funding would support local organizations, universities, community colleges and nonprofit groups focused on workforce training.
