Sep 22 (Field Level Media) – UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland said he’s OK despite being involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident while not wearing a helmet.
Strickland announced on Instagram that the accident happened Monday night in Las Vegas.
“Guys, I’m in a real bad place,” he said in an Instagram video. “Aw, f—. I let my buddy drive, he rolled us going, like, 60 (mph). We rolled like six times.”
Strickland showed a scratch on his head before continuing.
“That was from my head smacking the ground, going 60, did not have a helmet on. I’m an idiot,” he said.
Strickland then showed a scratch on his shoulder.
“That was just from rolling and smacking the concrete and the dirt. F—, I’m in a real bad place right now.”
Strickland, 35, reclaimed the UFC middleweight title in May with a split decision versus Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328 in Newark, N.J.
The American had won the 185-pound title in September 2023 with an upset of Nigeria’s Israel Adesanya by unanimous decision.
