Sep 21 (Field Level Media) – The Dallas Stars signed forward Sam Steel to a four-year, $14.8 million contract extension on Monday in a deal that starts with the 2027-28 season and carries an average annual value of $3.7 million.
Steel, 28, set career highs in goals (12), assists (21) and points (33) in 73 games with the Stars in 2025-26.
“We couldn’t be happier to extend Sam,” Dallas general manager Jim Nill said. “His consistency during his time with our team, especially on the penalty kill, plus his versatility has made him a valuable asset to our organization, and we’re happy to be locking him up for the next four seasons.”
Steel has 175 points (61 goals, 114 assists) in 491 career games with the Anaheim Ducks (2018-22), Minnesota Wild (2022-23) and Stars. The Ducks drafted the Alberta native in the first round (30th overall) in 2016.
Steel has 14 points (three goals, 11 assists) in 48 career playoff games and helped the Stars reach the Western Conference final in both 2023-24 and 2024-25.
