US poverty rate at 10.2% in 2025, Census Bureau says

WASHINGTON, ​Sept 15 (Reuters) – ‌The U.S. poverty rate edged down in 2025, ‌while ​median ⁠household income ⁠hit a record high, the government said on ​Tuesday,

The Census Bureau said ⁠the ⁠poverty rate — the ​percentage of people ​living in poverty — ‌dipped 0.5 percentage point to 10.2% last ⁠year. The supplementary measure of poverty ⁠was ‌at 13.1% ⁠and the ​median ‌household income increased ​2.6% ⁠to $87,460, the bureau said.
