Padres activate 1B Ty France for playoff stretch drive

Sep 14 (Field Level Media) – The San Diego Padres reinstated ​first baseman Ty ‌France from the paternity list and optioned second baseman Mason McCoy to Triple-A El Paso ‌in ​advance of Monday’s ⁠game at Colorado.

In ⁠his return to the Padres this season, the 32-year-old France is batting .294 with ​20 home runs and 63 RBIs in 120 ⁠games. He is ⁠a career .266 hitter ​with 101 home runs and ​427 RBIs over eight seasons ‌and 960 games for five clubs after starting his career with the Padres ⁠in 2019.

McCoy, 31, is a career .181 hitter in 43 major league ⁠games ‌since 2023.

The Padres ⁠entered MLB play Monday ​possessing ‌the third and final ​wild-card ⁠playoff spot in the National League, 2 1/2 games ahead of their NL West rival the Arizona Diamondbacks.
