Sep 12 (Field Level Media) – The Minnesota Twins called up outfield prospect Emmanuel Rodriguez from Triple-A St. Paul on Saturday prior ‌to the Twins’ home game against the Cleveland Guardians in Minneapolis.

Rodriguez has been a prominent prospect in the organization since signing for a $2.5 million ‌bonus in 2019. He appeared in 49 games with the Saints this season, slashing .262/.414/.500 with 11 home runs, 33 RBIs and seven stolen bases.

The 23-year-old is the Twins’ No. 5 prospect according to MLB Pipeline. Despite missing three months this season with a torn UCL in his left thumb, Rodriguez remains one of the most productive hitters in the minor leagues.

He is hitting .289 with a .928 ‌OPS, nine extra-base hits, 15 RBIs and 18 walks since August 12. He also hit for the cycle on Sept. 1.

With Minnesota 5 1/2 games back in the American League wild card race entering play Sunday, the young ‌outfielder will get a low-pressure opportunity to get his first MLB ‌action to end the season.

In a corresponding move, infielder Ben Ross was optioned to Triple-A. Ross, 25, appeared in three games for the Twins this season. He was a fifth-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
