Sep 12 (Field Level Media) – The Houston Astros are weighing moving Carlos Correa to second base upon his return to the lineup, per The Athletic.
According to the report, the team views Correa as a potentially better solution at second than Jose Altuve or Isaac Paredes. He would man the position, when Yordan Alvarez is in left field.
According to the report, when Alvarez is in left field, the Astros would keep Paredes at third and Jeremy Pena at shortstop with Correa playing second. Christian Walker would play first and Altuve would serve as the designated hitter.
The 31-year-old Correa is coming off ankle surgery and has been fielding ground balls at third base.
He has been limited to 32 games this season. During that span, he recorded three home runs and 16 RBIs with a .369 on-base percentage.
The 2021 Platinum Glove winner has been a shortstop throughout his career, but he began spending time at third base last season to fit alongside teammate and 2022 Gold Glove winner Pena.
