China’s foreign minister says China-Mexico ties ‘not directed against any third party’

BEIJING, Sept 7 (Reuters) – Relations between China and Mexico are ​not directed against ‌any third party and should not be influenced by any third ‌party, ​Chinese Foreign ⁠Minister Wang ⁠Yi said in a meeting with his Mexican counterpart in Beijing ​on Monday.

China is willing to ⁠work with ⁠Mexico to “safeguard the ​legitimate interests of both ​countries” and promote unity ‌and self-reliance among Global South countries, Wang said, according to ⁠an official summary of the meeting released by ⁠the ‌Chinese foreign ministry.

China ⁠supports “Mexico in upholding ​its ‌independence and autonomy … ​and ⁠opposing external interference,” Wang added.
