Portland Thorns and U.S. women’s national team midfielder Olivia Moultrie will miss the rest of the NWSL season with a torn right ACL.
The Thorns confirmed Tuesday that Moultrie, 20, sustained the knee injury during a training session last week and has been placed on the season-ending injury list.
“Olivia is one of the most driven players I have been around, and she will use that drive during her recovery and rehabilitation,” Thorns president and general manager of soccer operations Jeff Agoos said. “She has our full support and every resource this club can put behind her. “
Moultrie has recorded five goals and five assists through 16 appearances (15 starts) this season with the Thorns, who are in fifth place in the NWSL standings through 19 matches.
Moultrie made her USWNT debut in 2023 and has posted five goals in 18 appearances, helping the squad win the Concacaf W Gold Cup in 2024 and SheBelieves Cups in 2024 and 2026. She was named the 2023 U.S. Soccer Young Female Player of the Year.
With the long recovery required following an ACL reconstruction, Moultrie will miss the Concacaf W Championship in November and December. Her availability for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which begins next June in Brazil, is potentially also in jeopardy.
