MEXICO CITY, Aug 11 (Reuters) – Mexico’s health ministry said on Tuesday that tests carried out at over a dozen hotels in the Riviera Maya, a Caribbean tourist hub, came in negative for the cyclospora parasite.
British health authorities had reported cases of cyclosporiasis, a stomach illness spread by contaminated food or drink, in travelers who had stayed there.
Mexican authorities used PCR tests on fruit, vegetable and water samples collected at the hotels, which all came back negative, the ministry said.
