The Boston Red Sox scratched right fielder Wilyer Abreu from the starting lineup for Saturday’s game against ‌the Athletics with swelling in his lower right leg.

Eli White was moved from left field to ‌right, while Jarren Duran was inserted into the lineup in left field.

Abreu, 27, sustained the injury when he fouled a ball off his leg during Friday’s game against the Athletics. He left that game in the sixth inning and was replaced by White.

The injury is not believed ‌to be serious with the Red Sox optimistic Abreu could be ready to play on Sunday.

Abreu is batting .256 with 20 home runs and 62 RBIs in 113 ‌games this season.

The Red Sox have stormed back into ‌playoff contention by going 32-5 since June 25. Abreu has 10 of his home runs and 24 RBIs over 37 games during the red-hot stretch.
