GSK, Relation Therapeutics sign up to $110 million AI drug discovery deal

July 30 (Reuters) – British biotech firm Relation Therapeutics said on Wednesday it had ​entered into a ‌research collaboration with GSK worth up to $110 million to generate human cellular datasets and train ‌AI ​models for identifying ⁠potential new drug ⁠targets.

Here are some details:

• Under the agreement, Relation will generate large-scale datasets showing ​how human cells respond to genetic and drug ⁠interventions, with ⁠the information used to ​train AI foundation models, including ​Relation’s MORGAN platform.

• The collaboration ‌builds on an earlier partnership between the companies focused on fibrotic diseases ⁠and osteoarthritis.

• GSK has been increasing investment in research and development ⁠as ‌it seeks to strengthen ⁠its drug pipeline, ​while ‌also expanding the use ​of AI ⁠to improve the efficiency and success rate of drug discovery.
