Saudi Arabia says drones launched from Iraq targeting oil facilities intercepted

July 28 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday ​that its ‌air defenses intercepted and destroyed several drones that attempted ‌to ​target oil ⁠facilities in ⁠the kingdom’s Eastern Province.

Saudi defence ministry spokesperson Turki al-Maliki ​said on X that ⁠the drones ⁠were launched ​from Iraqi territory ​by what he described ‌as Iran-backed terrorist militias.

Saudi Arabia reserves the ⁠legitimate right to defend itself and its national ⁠capabilities ‌and retains ⁠the right ​to ‌respond “at the appropriate ​time ⁠and place,” al-Maliki said.
