SYDNEY, July 28 (Reuters) – Jacinta Allan, the premier of Australia’s ‌second most-populous state of Victoria, said on Tuesday she ‌had decided to resign ahead of a close-run state election in November.

Allan came to power in 2023 after Dan Andrews quit just shy of a year after he led ‌the centre-left Labor party to a third consecutive win.

She has since struggled to appeal to voters ‌and her approval ratings has ‌been steadily falling, according to several polls.
