July 22 (Reuters) – The Panama Canal Authority is monitoring weather conditions closely after the threat of a severe El Niño rose to 81% in July from 25% in April, the entity said in a statement on Wednesday.
The canal registered an average of 35 daily transits for the fiscal year of 2026, which runs from October to June. During the period, overall transits rose 5.2% from a year earlier to 10,726.
