Hit in the back of the helmet with a throw on Thursday, Seattle Mariners All-Star center fielder Julio Rodriguez was placed on the seven-day concussion injured ‌list on Friday.

Rodriguez, 25, left Thursday’s 1-0 home win over the Los Angeles Angels in the third inning, two innings after Nolan Schanuel’s throw hit Rodriguez directly ‌in the back of the helmet. Rodriguez advanced to third on the play, then was checked on by manager Dan Wilson and head athletic trainer Kyle Torgerson. An All-Star in 2022, 2023 and 2025, Rodriguez is hitting .259 with 14 home runs and 40 RBIs in 87 games this season. The 2022 American League Rookie of the Year has a career batting average of .272 with 126 ‌home runs and 381 RBIs in 677 games.
