US stock futures extend gains after June non-farm payrolls data

July 2 (Reuters) – U.S. stock index futures extended gains on ​Thursday after ‌a weaker-than-expected jobs report tempered expectations for interest rate hikes by ‌the ​Federal Reserve ⁠this year.

A Labor ⁠Department report showed the U.S. economy added 57,000 jobs last ​month, compared with economists’ estimates ⁠for a ⁠rise of 110,000. ​The unemployment rate stood ​at 4.2%, in line ‌with expectations of 4.3%.

At 08:30 a.m. ET, Dow E-minis ⁠were up 196 points, or 0.38%, U.S. S&P 500 ⁠E-minis ‌were up ⁠30.5 points, or ​0.4%, ‌and Nasdaq 100 ​E-minis were ⁠up 180 points, or 0.6%.
