US says Bolivia anti-government protests pose grave threat to democracy

LA PAZ, June 23 – Efforts to overthrow the ​government in Bolivia ‌represent a “grave threat” to constitutional order and democratic stability, the ‌U.S. ​State ⁠Department said in ⁠a joint statement with other regional countries on Tuesday.

A “violent ​minority” seeks to disregard the ⁠will expressed ⁠by majority of ​Bolivians in recent ​elections, the State Department ‌said in the statement, which was also issued ⁠by the governments of Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Chile, ⁠Costa ‌Rica, Dominican Republic, ⁠Ecuador, El ​Salvador, ‌Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, ​Panama, Paraguay ⁠and Peru.
