The Kansas City Royals placed center fielder Kyle Isbel on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with left plantar fasciitis.

On Thursday, Isbel was diagnosed with a Grade 3 ‌tear of his left plantar fascia, which is considered severe. He’s expected to miss significant time. A timeline for his return will become clearer after further evaluation in the ‌coming days.

On Thursday, Isbel said he’s been managing the injury for a couple of weeks but that he aggravated it running the bases on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers.

“It’s just getting the inflammation down, and then there’s not really a timetable on it,” Isbel said. “Just more symptom-based. … Just a lot of pressure in the bottom of my foot.”

Isbel, 29, is hitting .244 with three homers and 11 RBIs in 56 games this season. He is a career .238 hitter ‌with 26 homers and 155 RBIs in 552 regular-season games since his major league debut with Kansas City in 2021.

Outfielder Kameron Misner was recalled from Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. He has batted .203 (43-for-212) with five homers and 22 RBIs in 80 games for the Tampa ‌Bay Rays ( 2024-25) and Royals.

The Royals can fill Isbel’s spot with Lane Thomas, ‌Tyler Tolbert and Misner; all can play all three outfield spots.

Misner, 28, batted .276 with 13 home runs and 51 RBIs in 59 Triple-A games this season. The week of June 1-7, Misner was named International League Player of the Week for June 1-7.
