June 10 (Reuters) – Qantas Airways said on Wednesday the Australian carrier and its low-cost arm Jetstar will launch commercial passenger services from the Western Sydney International Airport when it opens on October 25 later this year.
Here are some details:
• When the new airport launches, Jetstar plans to operate up to 14 weekly flights to Melbourne, as well as four weekly flights to the Gold Coast and three to Brisbane.
• Qantas services will commence on March 28 next year, with four weekly flights each to both Melbourne and Brisbane.
• The airline added that its inaugural freighter service will take off from the airport’s 24-hour cargo precinct on the evening of July 27.
• “WSI will also become a key hub for Qantas Freight, with more than 850 tonnes of freight expected to move through our new terminal each week,” CEO Vanessa Hudson said.
• In March, Singapore Airlines said it would launch daily non-stop flight services to the new airport on November 23.
• Air New Zealand in April launched tickets for the three weekly return flights that will operate from the airport, starting October 26.
• New Zealand’s flag carrier had signed an agreement with the airport in June 2025.
