Kawasaki Heavy, Nvidia plan Silicon Valley robotics center, Nikkei reports

May 21 (Reuters) – Japan’s Kawasaki Heavy Industries will partner with Nvidia to develop ​solutions integrating robotics ‌with physical artificial intelligence, and will set up a joint development center in Silicon Valley, ‌the ​Nikkei newspaper reported ⁠on Thursday.

The collaboration ⁠will initially focus on medical and mobility fields, with Nvidia’s simulation technology to ​be applied to Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ Corleo, a ⁠four-legged personal mobility ⁠robot under development, ​Nikkei added.

As part of the ​effort, Kawasaki Heavy Industries will ‌open the joint development center in San Jose, California.

In addition to Nvidia, Kawasaki ⁠Heavy Industries will work with Analog Devices, Microsoft and Fujitsu at ⁠the ‌center, Nikkei said.

Nvidia ⁠did not immediately respond ​to ‌a Reuters request for ​comment. ⁠Kawasaki Heavy Industries could not immediately be reached outside business hours.
