The Los Angeles Angels activated Grayson Rodriguez from the injured list in advance of the right-hander’s debut with the club in a home start against ‌the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday.

In a corresponding move, the Angels optioned right-hander Alek Manoah to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Rodriguez, 26, was acquired in a trade ‌with the Baltimore Orioles this past offseason for outfielder Taylor Ward. The former first-round draft pick (11th overall) by the Orioles in 2018 did not pitch last season after elbow surgery.

In parts of two major league seasons, Rodriguez is 20-8 with a 4.11 ERA in 43 starts between 2023 and 2024. He pitched 12 2/3 innings for the Angels in spring training before going on the IL with shoulder ‌inflammation.

During two minor league rehab outings, he had a 2.79 ERA over 9 2/3 innings. He fanned 18 batters and only walked a pair.

Manoah, 28, was rocked for nine runs (eight earned) over 1 1/3 innings on Saturday against the Dodgers. ‌It was his third outing with the Angels after missing more than ‌a month at the start of the season with a right middle finger contusion.

Manoah, who spent his first four major league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays, is 29-20 with a 3.45 ERA in 78 career appearances (75 starts).
