Mariners place struggling C Cal Raleigh (oblique) on injured list

The Seattle Mariners placed struggling catcher Cal Raleigh on the 10-day ​injured list Thursday ‌with a right oblique strain.

Raleigh, 29, exited in the ninth inning of Wednesday’s ‌4-3, ​10-inning loss ⁠against the host ⁠Houston Astros.

It is the first career IL stint for Raleigh, who smashed ​60 homers last season as the American ⁠League MVP ⁠runner-up.

Raleigh is batting just .161 ​this season with a .560 ​OPS, seven home runs and ‌18 RBIs through 41 games.

The 2025 All-Star and 2024 Gold Glove ⁠winner was sidelined for three games from May 2-4 with ⁠soreness ‌in his right ⁠side.

The Mariners also ​recalled ‌catcher Jhonny Pareda from ​Triple-A Tacoma, ⁠reinstated Jose Ferrer from the paternity list and optioned fellow left-hander Josh Simpson to Tacoma.
