EdgeConneX to invest 3 billion euros on data centres in Italy

ROME, May 14 (Reuters) – EdgeConneX plans to invest around 3 billion ​euros ($3.5 billion) to ‌build three data centres in Italy, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s office said on ‌Thursday.

The ​plants will ⁠be located in ⁠Lombardy, northern Italy, the office said in a statement.

Earlier on Thursday, ​Industry Minister Adolfo Urso talked about ⁠an investment worth ⁠6 billion euros.

“The ​total investment amounts to ​around 3 billion euros,” ‌Meloni’s office said.

“The project involves the construction, by 2031, of three ⁠state-of-the-art data centre campuses in the Lombardy Region, with over ⁠300 ‌megawatt of ⁠capacity and an expected ​5 ‌billion euros in ​additional ⁠indirect investments,” the statement added.
