Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left shoulder subluxation ahead of Tuesday’s series opener against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals.

Wilson, 24, injured his ‌shoulder Sunday diving for a ball hit by the Baltimore Orioles’ Gunner Henderson, who singled on the play. Wilson had an MRI on Monday that confirmed the injury.

The move is ‌retroactive to Monday. Per MLB.com, Wilson is not expected to need surgery, and will begin a rehab program before resuming baseball activities. There is no timetable for his return to the field.

After a slow start, Wilson had been rounding into his 2025 All-Star form, hitting .336 with an .826 OPS in his last 27 games. He is hitting .292 with three homers and 19 RBIs after a .196 start over his first 12 games.

In his third season in the majors, Wilson is a .299 hitter with ‌16 homers and 85 RBIs in 192 games. The Athletics selected him No. 6 overall in the 2023 draft.

In Wilson’s absence, Darell Hernaiz is expected to receive most of the playing time at short, as he did in 2025 when Wilson sustained a fractured left forearm.

Along with calling up ‌outfielder Henry Bolte, their No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, the Athletics brought up ‌infielder Michael Stefanic from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Stefanic could see playing time at second and third base after hitting .250 in 34 games with a .706 OPS for Las Vegas. He has limited MLB experience with the Angels (2022-24) and Blue Jays (2025), hitting .227 with 14 RBIs in 99 games.
