Rangers place 2B Josh Smith (glute) on 10-day IL

The Texas Rangers placed second baseman Josh Smith on the 10-day injured ​list Tuesday with ‌a right glute strain.

As a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled infielder Justin Foscue from Triple-A Round ‌Rock.

Smith, ​28, is ⁠hitting .217 with six ⁠RBIs in 31 games this season. He’s played 29 games at second base and ​two as a designated hitter this season ⁠after splitting time ⁠across the infield and ​outfield in 2025. He’s a ​career .235 hitter over 487 games ‌across five seasons, with 31 homers and 134 RBIs.

Foscue, 27, has played in ⁠19 major league games over the last two seasons after Texas ⁠drafted ‌him 14th overall ⁠in the 2020 MLB ​Draft, ‌posting a .059 batting average ​with ⁠three RBIs. He’s hitting .287 with two homers and 14 RBIs in 30 games with Round Rock this season.
