Ukraine rolls out army reform, Zelenskiy says

KYIV, May 1 (Reuters) – Ukraine is launching an “army ​reform”, President ‌Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday, announcing plans to increase ‌wages ​for ⁠the military, strengthen ⁠the contract system and consider a phased discharge ​of those serving for a ⁠long ⁠time.

“In June, the ​reform will begin – ​and the first results ‌must already be delivered in June, particularly ⁠in the area of financial support for ⁠soldiers, ‌sergeants, and ⁠commanders of ​the ‌Defence Forces of ​Ukraine,” ⁠Zelenskiy said on the Telegram app.
