US sanctions Nicaragua vice minister over alleged human rights abuses

April 18 (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of ​State ‌Marco Rubio said on Saturday that ‌the ​United ⁠States is ⁠imposing visa sanctions on Nicaragua’s vice-minister ​of the ⁠interior, ⁠Luis Roberto ​Cañas Novoa, ​for alleged involvement ‌in human rights violations.

The ⁠sanctions render Cañas Novoa ineligible ⁠for ‌entry ⁠into the ​United ‌States.
