Mets’ Juan Soto (calf tightness) pulled in 1st inning vs. Giants

New York Mets star outfielder Juan Soto was removed from Friday’s game at ​the San Francisco Giants ‌with right calf tightness.

After reaching on a single, Soto went first to third on a Bo ‌Bichette ​single, appearing to ⁠grimace as he ⁠pulled up on third base. He remained in the game and was thrown out at ​home as part of a double play. Tyrone ⁠Taylor replaced him ⁠in left field.

Soto, 27, ​is in the second year of ​a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million contract ‌he signed in December 2024. He’s hitting .354 with one homer and five RBIs in ⁠eight games this season after posting a .263 average with 43 home runs ⁠in ‌his first season with ⁠the Mets.

Soto hasn’t been ​placed ‌on the injured list ​since ⁠2021. He’s never played less than 150 games in any of his six full seasons at the major league level.
